A Message from the Club President ….Dr. Scott Darling

Welcome to our Kearney Lions Club Web Site. I would like to put out an open invitation for you to attend one of our meetings thus getting to know the wonderful members of our Club.

I would like to thank the outgoing President Hale Lentz and his officers for an outstanding year! The Jesse James 2nd Annual Wine Festival and the 6th Annual Mud Run were a great success and enjoyed by many.

“Share the Vision” is the common theme that connects all the fund raising efforts. This “Vision” includes raising money for sight preservation, services for youth, help improve the environment, support Diabetes Education, conduct Hearing Programs and support the International Lions Club with their mission of providing disaster relief around the world.

It was Helen Keller who addressed the 1925 Lion’s International Convention in Cedar Point, OH where she challenged the Lion’s to become the “Knights of the Blind” in the crusade against darkness. It is humbling to see what this extraordinary woman has inspired Lion’s Clubs across the country to accomplish: Missouri Lions Eye Research Foundation, the Heartland Lion’s Eye Bank, the Rocky Mountain Lion’s Eye Institute and the recycling of eye glasses around the globe.

Driving past the Lion’s Park in Kearney, MO, reminds us on a daily basis how the service of one small group can impact the Quality of Life in our own community. What a wonderful organization to be a part of!

Let the history of Lion’s Club International and the 63 year strong Kearney Lion’s Club continue to inspire us to dream big.

The Kearney Lions Facebook page is a window into the Club and its activities. Please join us!

I look forward to seeing you at any of our meetings.

Sincerely,

Dr. Scott Darling

President, Kearney Lions Club
